Sandi Sunset Beach Portraits
For this set I used a D3s/50 1.8 and Mitros+ / orange diffuser with an umbrella, and a SB-700 with the incandescent filter. It was windy so I had to handhold the stand with the umbrella.

Some specifics:
1) Nice.
2) Ok. chin blemishes are killing this shot though. Nose tangent to mouth exaggerates nose size.
3) Lovely headshot, except for chin blemishes and eyes are a bit over-rotated away from camera (not a deal breaker, but could be better)
4) would be lovely except for that strand of hair coming down from camera right and sticking up her nose -- easy to fix. Hand position isn't ideal, compare it to #3 which is the right way. She looks like she's gonna rap you with her knuckles.
5 and 6) Now we're talking. Sports Illustrated, baby. Especially #6.
7, 8, and 9) Too much contrast/harsh shadows, these don't work for me.
10) Similar to 5 and 6, quite nice
11) No, no, and no.

Thanks, I see your points and thanks for pointing them out. For 7-9 she actually likes that look and some of them are her favorites. 11 was just a goofing off shot, which is what the whole session was like
I think that goofing around shots are great -- so much so that I believe they deserve the same amount of attention in post processing as the real shots. Looks like a fun shoot and I forgot to mention the lighting looks great overall.

I'm the same way, one day something looks bad, the next it looks better. Here is a pic from that series she is using as her fb profile. The frame before she was evenly lit, this pic the recycle of the main light didn't match the fill. It looks like the sun is lighting the scene but it comes from a gelled flash with the sun providing a bit of rim light.
