This week I took a drive to the historic village of Chiang Sean, Thailand which is on the Maekhong River and serves as a gateway to China for the growing Thai economy. When I visit, I always enjoy stopping to photograph the old temple grounds. To my surprise, they had torn down the pavilion that housed the Buddha shrine and were in the process of replacing it with a new structure. What I found intriguing was that all this work is being carried out on the grounds and by hand. Teak tree trunks have been brought in and are being cut to make the skeleton of the new pavilion. Here are a few images of the project. I plan to visit a few more times to further document the construction.
