I Need help to prevent background image to load on small screens/mobile device.

Try this and change the size to suit.

@media screen and (max-width: 640px) {
    .sm-tile-content .sm-image .sm-tile-limit-height {
        display:none !important;
        }
}

Thanks, where to paste the code, css content block or theme css?

I tried both with no luck, right now it´s in a content block on homepage

I put all of my CSS in the theme's CSS.

Try this instead:

@media screen and (max-width: 640px) {
    .sm-tile-limit-height {
        display:none !important;
        }
}
