First Time For Hummingbirds

During my recent visit back to Long Island, I joined some friends at the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge looking to shoot hummingbirds. The visitor center there has a nice back deck with a nearby feeder, so we settled in and waited to see who would show up.

This was my first attempt at shooting hummingbirds. These were taken with a Canon 5D3 and Canon 100-400mm lens.

Gorgeous shots- love the colors! I'm still trying to get pics of the ones who have been coming around my place, but need it to be bright enough out to get my shutter speed to at least 1/2000. They're so unbelievably fast that that's the only way to get a sharp picture.
