My original bee feeder of a milk top with sponge filling, filled with sugar/honey syrup and stuck on a 4 foot cane, does attract bees but ants also invariably find it fairly quickly. Doing the shopping the other day I noticed a hanging small animal water feeder and wondered if bees would be able to figure out how to use it. I stuck a couple of strips of Velcro loops near the nozzle as handy grips and hung it up in a shrub that evening. The following morning, the bumble bees had worked out how to use it - quite impressive ! and the ants have not found it yet (after 4 days).
