Thanks everyone for making this really hard. It was fun to see the many different ways that you interpreted this theme. My criteria for judging was completely arbitrary - no hard and fast rules. What I liked ruled here. I realize that each of you would have chosen differently...
Here are the 10 images I whittled things down to:
This first step was hard enough but getting to the top 3 was just about impossible. I couldn't just do a top3 so I put in an honorable mention.
Honorable Mention - Connecting with reality
This not only has connections (man to cyberspace, woman to camera, woman to floor) but also illustrates disconnects. Well done getting all this in.
3rd Place - Connecting with Myself
Simple but powerful connection made to one's self using a mirror.
2nd Place - Connecting with your spouse
Powerful emotional connection. These are the types of moments (connections) I think we all try to capture.
1st Place - From Mind to Paper - The Experienced Hand
The angle of the hand and the pencil really illustrate the connection of ideas flowing from the artist to paper. The B&W treatment, the weathered hands, even the sketch on the paper adds to the impact of the photo.
Congratulations to Earache and to everyone who participated in this round.
Earache - I'll send you a PM explaining your next steps.

As always, so many fine image sumbmitted... and this time, so many with poignant, humorous, and charming interpretations of the theme.
The two other images placing are fantastic and got my vote... especially your B&W Kate - it has a very authentic retro vibe.
I always struggle with trying to conjure a next theme... but thanks to a thoughtful, timely,
idea from my wife, I'll post #189 right away, and hope it catches your interest.
Cheers, Eric
