Jack, I'm going to guess that your mystery bird is either a female Red-winged Blackbird or a female Brown-headed Cowbird. I'd bet money on one or the other, but darned if I can say which one.

Wow thanks for that. I never realized that the female RWBB wasn't black. We have tons of them here.

I wonder who raised him/her. I've seen them with juncos and also pine siskins. Both times they dwarfed their "parents".
