    Jack, I'm going to guess that your mystery bird is either a female Red-winged Blackbird or a female Brown-headed Cowbird. I'd bet money on one or the other, but darned if I can say which one. ne_nau.gif

    Wow thanks for that. I never realized that the female RWBB wasn't black. We have tons of them here.

    It looks like a juvenile brown-headed cowbird to me.

    I wonder who raised him/her. I've seen them with juncos and also pine siskins. Both times they dwarfed their "parents".

    That's a Brown-headed Cowbird for sure. I'll bet someone in the neighborhood is missing a parakeet.
