I went out to shoot few macro myself too. I tired shooting butterflies too.
But they not stay in the same spot. They always on the move. Any tip for that?
Not that keen on the smoke effect though.

2 tips.
Either shoot when it's cooler for example early morning. Butterflies tend to stay put then, or set up next to a flowers where you have seen butterflies feeding and wait for them to come to you. They will accept you as part of the scenery if you are already there.
