Haven't had much chance to post lately. I have a trailer rental that was totally trashed by the last tenant and I've spent the past 8 weeks doing repairs. Finally a light at the end of the tunnel and it isn't a train.

I had two young ladies stop by for some fun shots. Inside ones were with one main PLM and the outdoor ones with two Canon flashes.

Hack, I really want to love those studio ones, but something is slightly "off" on the skintones and lighting in 1 and to some extent in 3 (I wanted to check multiple monitors before I posted - I actually saw these yesterday). Feels like the shadows are a bit strong and not modelling the face the way your work usually does. Not sure what it is ne_nau.gif

I like the skin in 2, but feel like it's very lit-from-below .... even though it isn't. Possibly tone down the eyelighter catchlight?

Diva, thanks for the look. On the color, this is the first time in years I didn't eyeball the colors but used a color checker to do it. Go figure!! Not sure if the bkg color is affecting my eye or not. I did use the Eyelighter on the other but I love the look.

A good approach and as stated before there seems to be something wrong with the skin tones.
Off course that is hard to judge on an I.N picture.
I find the catchlights a bit award , and cause a strange look. I would try to decrease the contrast and lighten the darks and shadows… (if you use LR)…..
But who am I to judge…..

On which ones do you find the contrast between light and dark a problem? On skin tones these girls are heavily tanned esp the yellow dress gal. I did use a color checker for skin tones which is something I haven' done in years.

    hack,

your studio shots are always bang on but your outside shots (in many past posts) have unifying theme imo..overly crushed blacks, over contrasty, and often over saturated imo. It's like you use totally different post process on the outside shots?

Qarik, thanks for commenting, it is always taken under consideration. On the outside ones I was playing with some Nik Filters. I tend to push the contrast up a tad as I like the punch. Don't know how that got started.
