Navbar default font color

Hi there, all! First time post-er here . Just subscribed to Smugmug and have just begun building my new site.
I have a fairly simple question, the answer to which I haven't been able to find in about 50 minutes of browsing the complicated threads:
Does anyone have the CSS to change the font colour for the navbar?
I already have found on a different thread the code to change the font *HOVER* colour (I have set this to black), but I need to set the default colour to grey so that the menu links turn to black upon hover.
Also, I realize that I could change the font colour in the settings, but this (from my understanding) would change the font colour across the entire site, but I need it to remain black and have only the navbar colour be grey.
Thanks in advance for your time and help!

I'm personally not using the standard SM navigation on my site, so I can't check. I think depending on the theme/navigation type, there may be a different in the CSS code.
