Seeing the post by Gary752, I got inspired. His interpretation of Joel Grimes got me thinking about my own personal interpretation and instead of walking on his thread, I decided it would be cool to create an "imitation" thread. I'm not sure how often I'll create these but I think they'll be fun to share what we all think when we think of another artist.

I'm going to post how I interpret Joel Grimes below... I hope you do too :)

It doesn't matter how old or new your work is, just share!

When I think of Joel Grimes I think of a few things. David Hill, Edgy, Contrasty, Artificial light, and Composite backgrounds.

(imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery!)

Though all of those things are a part of my personal style, here's how I'd do Joel Grimes if I were... well, Joel Grimes lol

I am really enjoying this thread!

Wally...If your last one was in color and processed the same as the others you would have nailed it, because you used edge lighting similar to Joel Grimes.

John...You nailed it with #2 with the edge lighting and #4 with what appears to be with a single strobe.

Charles...You nailed it with #1,2 & 4 with the edge lighting, and #5 with what appears to be a single strobe. #3 would have been perfect too if you would have used either a stobe in the center above eye level, a few stops lower than your edge lights, or a reflector in the center to get a bit of fill in the center of his face, as it's a tad too dark.

    Keep 'em coming folks!

Who should I use as the Photog for imitation thread #2? (which I'll probably post in a week)
