I'm late to the mix, but I'm frustrated with the new SM

Here's what I'm trying to do:

Set up a full screen slideshow (which I finally figured out) (for those looking for the full screen slideshow, you can do that here: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/1367940-how-do-i-change-my-site-s-background-)

Have those photos NOT get cut off top or bottom - so just have it go to the height of the image

have a grey (or some color) banner across the top so that my menu/logo will show up nicely OR have that part just set aside and black/grey for that stuff

And as I try out each theme to see what I can do with it, I lose ALL my information - it doesn't remember my FB/twitter/wordpress/menu information, which gallery I'm grabbing my slideshow from, etc, etc. I would LOVE to be able to set all this stuff and then go through each style and see what it looks like. instead, this process takes about 10 minutes each as I adjust them all....

Am I missing something? Can this be set up globally so I don't have to do it every time? (When I go into my account settings, things like my FB, etc are all there... would be GREAT to automatically grab them!)

I would love any other suggestions to make this trying out of different themes go faster and easier. Especially with respect to menu/FB/etc. Thanks!!

    Hi Andi,

I am very sorry, but at the moment this is how the full screen background works. It is set to FILL the background of your web browser and if you change the size of your browser - the photo is being "cropped" little bit to accommodate the size and the aspect ratio of your web browser window.

If we would lock the top and the bottom of the background image - you will see white space on both sides of your background image. If we lock the top, bottom and the sides of your background image - the image will be distorted {squeezed or stretched}.

It is very important to choose your background wisely - making sure that the main subject is not near to the top, bottom, side edge.

I use a full screen background photo on my site as well - and I had to crop my image so that there is still enough space at the top of the image - so that the cropping will not cover my models eyes - you can see it here:

Changing designs - I am very sorry, but at the moment designs do not carry over your social media settings or any of your content blocks. All designs have their own sets of content blocks - this is why they are different and require different setup.

But you can suggest your idea as a feature request - here:
