Haleakala Silverswords

THere's been quite a blooming season up on Haleakala over the past few weeks. These silverswords, from what I understand, they are little silvery swordy shrubs for most of their lives, like 10-50 years, living only on the 250 acre top of Haleakala (10,000' elevation). Their physiology allows them to retain heat and thrive. At the end of their lives, they shoot out a fountain of blooms.
