Elephant Seals

Our last trip up the Central Coast of California delivered a nice surprise: Elephant Seals resting on the side of the road. Literally.

Elephant seal are routinely seen along the beaches of the Central Coast, especially at the Piedras Blancas rookery. However, I've never seen them this close to the road. These guys were literally within a foot of the roadside. Quite a wonderful experience to see so many, so close. I think it was due to some construction that was happening along the beach. Oh and the smell. Wonderful but not in a good way. LOL
