Hi folks, I've been looking around for my 20D manual and just can't find it. Is the supposed ability to get ISO 3200 an in built capability, or a hack. If it is a hack, where can I find it?

Thanks.

    It's a custom setting, I forget which. It doesn't say 3200 ISO, it says high ISO or something like that....

    Go to page 142 of the manual.

    Briefly, open your menu and go to Custom Function in the orange section of the menu. Hit the setting button then use the dial until it shows that you are at custom function 08. You want to toggle to "on". ISO 3200 will show as "high" when you check ISO on your LCD panel.

    It is great to have it.

    Good luck.

    I just got around to looking in the manual and found out how to do the 3200 ISO a few weeks ago.

    I used it over Christmas. I really like it!

    Mine shows as H that is all, just H, after 1600

    probably grain, I don't care. Family stuff, I hate messing with flash! I mean it really made a world of difference. I used my wide angle f4, I think, lens most of the time. Now on a faster lens...............WOW!

    I got some photos that are well worth the grain, no way would they have been possible with a flash.

    Not that a flash isn't useful, I just don't like to mess with it, and when I finally believed that there must be a way to get that 3200 and searched in the manual.................I am a happy camper with it.

    Ditto. Christmas party last night, and the shots are BEAUTIFUL, despite most people not realising I took most of the ones I did, because there was no flash.

    ISO3200 = iloveyou.gif candids...

    I like ISO3200 as well....and fast glass.

    ISO 3200 -- no flash allowed at the Art Museum in Chicago. If you get the exposure right, the noise is very manageable with ISO3200 on the 20D. If you underexpose, then adjust the exposure to the right in post processing, that's when you'll have difficulties.

    BTW, I used to hate flash as well. I now use the LightSphere -- which other than looking funny, works very well. I'll shoot high ISO's _and_ use flash. The high ISO's allow that "ambient light" look to your photos, and the flash acts as fill to remove shadows from the eyes caused by overhead lighting.
