Link to photos and moving photos around

I'm thinking about different ways I can store the photos I want to use on different blogs. One way is of course upload to Smugmug and then use links to those photos. My question is about those links, they look like this

xxxxx.smugmug.com/Snapshots/i-9dfhTFE/1/L/IMG_1566-L.jpg

My questions are:

• What happens to the 'xxxxx' part if I decide to upgrade to a power account and I set up a custom domain?
• What happens if I want to reorganize where the photos are? For example this photo is in the gallery "Snapshots", this URL shouldn't work if I rename the gallery och move the photo to another gallery. Is there some way to get a "canonical" url?

You can use a custom domain with your SmugMug account by creating a Cname (canonical) www ---> domains.smugmug.com
Any link you sent out using xxx.smugmug.com will still work in addition to the url with the custom domain. If you move images to a new gallery or change the site name, the old links would be broken.

This isn't true. For example, here's an image on my custom domain name:

http://origin.sherlockphotography.org/Animals/Wildlife/i-Qb8vkDM/5/L/827C5241-L.jpg

Imagine that this photo had been moved from a gallery called Animals/Birds, the old URL would have been:

http://origin.sherlockphotography.org/Animals/Birds/i-Qb8vkDM/5/L/827C5241-L.jpg

And that link works too! Imagine that my old SmugMug username was "williams" and I had renamed to my current username "n-sherlock", the old link to the photo would have been:

http://williams.smugmug.com/Animals/Birds/i-Qb8vkDM/5/L/827C5241-L.jpg

And that link loads the image too!

As far as I know, the image ID in the URL ("i-Qb8vkDM") allows SM to find the photo even if it has moved galleries or the site name changes.

I just tested this by moving an image to another gallery and the link did still work. I changed my site nickname and the link pointed to the old sitename but still came up with the image.
It's risky changing your sitename but it appears images that are moved can still be found. Thanks for the info.
