Are stats working right now? It's pretty unusual to see 0 page views for a whole day on my site. Thanks!

I'm not showing any hits since the 3 Sept on SmugMug Statistics page. Flat "0". StatCounter is showing activity?
No stats here since Sept. 2

From what I have read, the stated reason for counting owner views is that the new content delivery system can't tell that the images are being view by a logged-in owner. That seems odd, since the system obviously CAN tell whether to provide owner-only functions - like editing the image's meta-data, for example.
Another issue I that I think I'm seeing is that most of my galleries are now displayed in "collage landscape" style which (I think) means that when myself or a user opens the gallery a page view is registered for every thumbnail that is displayed on their screen, even though the user probably didn't look at most of them.
Perhaps a short-term workaround might be offer the ability to separately track only those images that have been viewed at at least a certain size or larger? That would filter out a lot of the "noise" views caused by rendering pages full of thumbnails, and focus solely on those images that have attracted particular attention - in the lightbox for example. Since a lot of the "noise" views come from the owner simply maintaining their site, I expect this type of view count would also be less contaminated by owner views. I imagine this new tracking would be done in addition to the current "all inclusive" tracking, and so provide a second an more discriminating option for gaining insight into how a smugmug site is performing.

There's a separate thread where Baldy announced the change to stats and explained why this was done in great detail. There's been lots of great feedback from our users on it and Baldy chimed in quite a bit, offering additional insights and what we're currently investigating when it comes to stats. If you haven't read through the thread yet, I'd recommend that you at least read the posts from Baldy and the other SmugMuggers that chimed in.
If you have afterwards any new feedback or questions, feel free to add them to that thread.
There's no need to re-hash the topic on another thread.

Thanks for this - I had indeed been watching that thread. However things went quiet in late July, and I assumed a shroud of grim resignation had descended over the topic. But now I see that Baldy chimed in again on August 6 and re-ignited a LOT of discussion on that thread. It seems smugmug at least now understands how damaging the stats issue is, and are doing what they can to rectify it. I am grateful for this effort.
