Case of the Disapearing Page

This morning I was busy working on creating a sneak-peek page for a wedding I'd shot this past weekend. I'd formatted the theme, and was dropping content blocks when something odd happened. I went to open the host gallery in a new tab because I wanted to see if I'd forgotten to any particular image. The tab times out with a connection error, but I was still online with out interruption on my end. I know because I was streaming content, and could open other sites. I'd already published the page, so wasn't too concerned.

A few minutes later, all was working again, only when I open my new page in the organizer I discovered it was not as I published it. It had reset and was as if I'd just created it, with the site's main theme and no content. Crap.

So I went about recreating the page. It wasn't until I was done that I noticed the URL had a "-1" added to the end. Where did that come from? So I looked for the original URL in my history and found my original page. What?

Looking in the organizer I cannot see this page anywhere, in any folder. The only way I can find it is by using the URL.

The doppelganger page that has the "-1" that I didn't add.

My original, unfinshed page, which is set to hidden. As you'll see, I could still change the settings for it. Where is it? What happened?

PS: Ignore the writing on the original. It's just Greeking I use to get consistent formatting.

    Hi Darter,

This may sound strange - this is a normal behaviour. It is like you are trying to add the same file to same folder on your computer - some software will add a number at the end of the file - to make possible for both files { with the same name } to be saved in the same folder.

This only happens if you open the page in new tab and start editing it at the same time.

But where is the page? I can't find it in the organizer. Also, I only had it open in one tab. In the other tab I was opening the gallery that hosts the images used in the folder. After the crash, where I couldn't connect to SM servers, this new page was found. So the system somehow copied it, reverting it back to the original state/theme.

That is the copy with the "-1."

I was able to access the page settings of the original, and it now says, "Where is this page?" I don't see it in my organizer. I'll post a screen shot... 1 sec...

    Hi Darter02,

I can see what is going on here. You could not see this page in your site organizer when accessing the organizer from your homepage or any other location except from this location:
    http://www.ronlutzii-photographer.com/Ta/2014-08-30a/n-k75M5

I think this was some sort of caching issue. I have rebuild links on your site - this should make the page appear in your organizer.
