One of my favourite species of hover. Big, Bold and non-reflective
And an opportunistic crop
This one I see quite a few of by our Begonias and African Daisies. I think it's Melanostoma but not certain

Not H. trivittatus though - they don't have the facial stripe between the antennae and ocelli - H. pendulus I think.
