I finally made myself go out last night for my first attempt at night sky photography. Even way up here in the Gunnison National Forrest you can't get away from light pollution. So, might as well embrace it. Matter of fact, I like it!

I've got to say, pard, this stuff here is killer good. While I don't usually care much for vertical landscapes, that second shot ( blown up BIG and presented well ) could hang in any gallery.
You've earned the right to post a flower shot....unmolested.

I too like the portrait shot. I am studying more about composition lately and I read recently that when the content is vertical, go with a portrait shot/crop. It certainly works here.
Great composition and exposure.
I wonder if you tried taking a few images of different exposures of the top and bottom and blending them. I ask because that is on my photo bucket list.

Thanks Cristóbal
Howdy Pard,
I agree with you on vertical landscapes, but sometimes, as with this shot, vertical is the only logical choice.
I took a bunch of sky shots, and the ones of just the stars didn't do much for me, other than amaze me how many of them rascals there are up there. I much prefer the "light pollution", gives great color to an otherwise black/white shot. I'll post a few more in a couple of days.
I'll hold that "unmolested flower shot" in escrow!
Thanks as always for your time and comments!
Howdy Phil,
I didn't do any blending for two reasons:
1) This was my first try at night sky photography
2) I don't use PS anymore, only Lightroom
I appreciate your comments!
Thanks for your kind comments Taz
I appreciate your continued support!
