Me and the Mrs. went downtown for a night to celebrate our 15th anniversary. Took my Tamron 17-35 and Sigma 30mm f1.4, but only used the Tamron.

No "L-envy" for me :)

Very nice clap.gif Looks as if the lens is a keeper. I really like the Chicago Gallery.

i absolutely love that second shot! i'd probably clone out the smoke/steam/cloud in that picture, but it's no big deal either way.
great colors, you're really making me want that tamron 17-35! maybe it's a good thing that i returned the canon 17-40 f4L. . .

I was thinking of you when I posted this. I missed that you took the L back -- how come?

Give the Tamron a try, I'm very happy with this lens.

haha, thanks for thinking of me.

my rebel crapped out on me, so i'm getting it repaired, but i also decided it was time to upgrade to a 20d. as much as i loved the 17-40 f4L, i had to return it to get the 20d. it was a great lens, but i was able to live without it for a long time before, so i think i can continue to do so.

i think if i was going to go for the lens again, i'd go for the tamron that you have instead of the canon. even if the tamron is soft at f2.8, i think it would be more useful than the f4 of the canon in a lot of situations. plus, you're doing a pretty good job of making me want that tamron.

    Who say's it's soft at f2.8?

Congrats on getting the 20D -- I love mine.

i was just saying if it was soft. i kinda assumed it would be a little soft, but not too bad. maybe it's sharp as a tack. i really don't know, but now i really want one, more than the 17-40 f4L.
