I just got this lens for my D70. It seems like it does not want to focus in on my subject very easily when indoors. It will go past the focus point then go back past it again. Does this a couple times until it focuses. Does anyone use this lens? Is this a low light problem or is this how these lenses are. I have not had a chance to get outside yet. I will do that Saturday.
Just wondering if anyone had any input on this. I still have a couple weeks to take it back if I want.
Thanks.

Lenses with lower contrast curves make it harder to focus, because that's how the camera achieves focus. Indoors, this will be doubly-true.

Do you have an off-camera flash? the Nikon and Sigma speedlites feature infrared focusing beams which calculate distance and help the camera lock on.

This was all done with no flash on. I was trying some low light pics. There was enough light to get the shots, i guess it just wasn't enough to help the lens. I think it will be okay outside, which is where I plan to use this lens anyway.
    Thanks.
