How do I find the class name/I.D. of an element?

Hi Smuggers,

I've tried and failed to figure out on my own how to use Chrome developer tools to find out the class name/I.D. or whatever code of a particular element so that I can apply CSS to it.

What I currently want to do is this: on my homepage, I have a "Multiple Photo" content block (below the slideshow and above the list of galleries) that I only want to appear on mobile screens. I know how to use @media only screen etc. to do this, but I can't seem to find the identifying code I need to apply it just to that content block. I've tried to search for the answer online as well as fiddled with Chrome developer tools, but I'm still lost.

Can somebody please help me?

Here's my site: http://www.robcorpuz.com/

Thank you!

-Rob

In Chrome right click and pick "Select Element".

    Hi Allen,

Thanks for your reply. When I tried to do this I got my right-click protection message. Do I have to disable that for this to work, or am I not doing it right? Thanks again.

I can click off the side photo and get the rc menu. Then scroll up to find the div.

BTW, RCP is the most frustrating thing when trying to trouble shoot sites.

And interestingly enough it doesn't protect anything (although some people seem to think that it does) since it's simple to grab images from the browser cache.

Yeah, I agree that any motivated person with even a little tech know-how can take an RCP image, but I guess I'd rather have a crappy lock on the door than just leave it wide open.

I've noticed more people actually buy stuff as I use my RCP message to politely point people in that direction. My social media buttons are also used more due to the same message.
