IMO the only thing that would live up to that hype would be the perfection of a Foveon style sensor, or something of similar gravity. But who knows, it could just be a Canon smartphone or custom shell color choices on the Rebel.

An "accurate" reproduction of a scene and a good photograph are often two different things.

IMO a company this big chooses its words VERY carefully, and these words absolutely scream "please shut up about the Sony fllagship mirrorless system already, we're finally getting around to competing with it OK?"
Nothing else makes much sense, again given the specific wording, other than maybe a ~40-50 MP DSLR, or a5D mk4 with 4K video. Although either of those, if they don't deliver the goods WRT dynamic range / overall image quality, will still get laughed out of town.
Canon is down out of the top ONE HUNDRED sensors on DXO's chart for DR. It's downright embarrassing at this point.

I have no idea exactly what they are saying, but maybe, just maybe, they have a real surprise for us. I certainly hope so.
I will check back there again tomorrow and see what they announce.

Oh yeah. It's easy to forget they make other stuff besides cameras. Like satellites. Oh well. :flush
