:dunno Hi many years with Smugmug.pro huge galleries Visual Senses
(I park everything there, I know maybe too many but isn't that why we have these sites?)
I am close to 60 work in 2D 3D etc but I am not a web designer and am eally concerned that I can't find my pics anymore the same way as in my current "Classic" setting and unable to rebuilt something I feel comfortable with.
I spend huge amount of time (after work) to upload all these GB of pics. Still wondering why SMUGMUG Can't list our gallery titles by ALPHABETIC ORDER.. really that is what I can not comprehend that one has to search specific galleries depending "when" they were uploaded. That can take us back year and years and one has a name in mind not a date.
When I test drive the new templates beside the "smugmug one" I get "private pics" that are behind password..(things for work) that filll the home screen.
in most temlated one has to click BROWSE to see the galleries and home is basically nothing
Why not have the HOME display the galleries that one had built and the go browsing
All that is most concerning.
In my maybe not so humbe opinion, I find the titles hovering "over"the square pics really visually unpleasing. What's wrong with a little space between the galleries and the titles on a plane background?
If that is possible how to that?
For people like myself who are not webdesigners this is all a big concern to switch and then have to spend numerous hours to redo so many years of work again.
I am worried the day will come I will have no choice and "classic" will be gone.
Since there is Light there is Beauty.

Actually, displaying folders (replacing the categories / subcategories from Old SmugMug) on your homepage and having them displayed by name is easy to do on the New SmugMug. To do so:
    1. go to your homepage on New SmugMug

    2. click on customize > customize site and look for the content tab on the side > navigation section

    3. within it, you'll find the "folders" content block. Add that to your site with drag and drop (this quick reference video shows you how that works).

    4. After adding the content block, the settings dialog for it should come up (if it didn't or you closed it, hold your mouse over the content block and click on the wrench button)

    5. In the content block settings, click on the display tab and look for the sort settings. There you can either pick the name or organizer sort setting - the latter is more flexible as you can easily adjust the sort without having to use the customize site screen. Also make sure the sort direction is set to ascending unless you wish to have the order reversed.

    5. b) If you also have galleries in your root folder that aren't part of any folder, repeat step 3 to 5 for the "galleries" content block.

    6. If you chose the organizer sort order, just head to the organize screen, make sure the root folder is selected in the tree on the left and then pick your desired sort order from the drop down menu in the upper right. That should get the content block(s) on your homepage in your desired order as well.

This should help. If you have any further questions, can you make sure to also include a link to your site?

    Hi vicarious,
The beauty of the New SmugMug is that you can now create a very nice looking place quite easily. In fact, to redo your page in the New SmugMug would be quite simple.

All of the things you have on your Legacy SmugMug site can be dropped into the New SmugMug site and configured with a few sample clicks. In fact, I recreated your page as a sample and it took me less than 10 minutes. Basically I took all of the things on your page and added it, just with my content. All in less than 10 minutes! See it here:

I encourage you to give the New SmugMug a try. Play with the settings, see what's there, watch some of the help pages and you will find that everything you want and more is here ... and easy to do!
