Some Klutz, me, tripped over his mono pod of 30 years and bent the lower portion. Need one by Friday for the game. Can anyone recommend a good one other than Gitzo.

    Why no Gitzo?

I really like everything I've purchased from http://www.reallyrightstuff.com
    so really recommend them.

They seem to be making their own monopods now (mine came from there a few years ago, but is a Gitzo).

Maybe this doesn't help much. The website indicates monopods are on back order, can't seem to find them on Amazon. Getting one for Friday is problematic.

There are some Manfrotto monopods available on Amazon (with Prime shipping, could be yours in a hurry). I have no experience with the brand, but is respected (at some price points, anyway).

I love Gitzo but did not want to spend that amt for now and Really Right Stuff is even more expensive. Might have to go for the Manfrotto. Thanks.

Monopods don't have to be fancy, right? I have a very basic aluminum Manfrotto, and it has never let my 300/2.8 down. Only thing that I'd want is more padding for holding it with the lens over my shoulder when not in use.

Thanks all, going with the Manfrotto 681B aluminum. Be here Thursday. Really wanted another Gitzo but those rascals are up there but I do love my Gitzo carbon tripod. Can carry that rascal all day.

I have an Oben ACM-2400L and really love it. It's the one with the 3 legs on it, that fold up inside the bottom section. I was very surprised at how sturdy it is. I have had my D300 w/70-200 2.8 lens attached on it and had no problems with it wanting to tip over. One feature that I like is they incorporated a belt clip into the wrist strap. Here's a link to it at B&H: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/687349-REG/Oben_ACM_2400L_ACM_2400L_4_Section_Aluminum_Monopod.html
