    Fine shot of the Corsair. I was just as interested, though, in the background map. I'm an absolute fanatic about military aviation in WWII....particularly in the PTO ( Pacific Theater of Operations ).

    This nation lost one of its most celebrated WWII Naval aviators not long ago. His name was Hal Buell. He was a dive bomber pilot who flew both the SBD Dauntless and the Helldiver. He wrote a book, " Dauntless Helldiver ", that is generally agreed to be one of the most definitive and accurate accountings of WWII aircraft carrier warfare. I spent many hours in his home with he and his wife, Molly. His stories were riveting. He died at age 93.
