Matanuska Glacier Guiding Weekend
Recently went out and did some ice climbing / photography'ing on Matanuska Glacier here in Alaska. I really enjoyed the photography on this trip especially with my new camera and lens! So here's a bunch of pictures from the trip. I was on a serious black and white kick during the editing...
The glacier is a short trip from the parking lot. Only 1/4 mile hike gets you to its face.
Which is a pretty easy walk.
But before you know it...you're in the good stuff!
Sights on the way in.
A picnic table way out here? Yup.
I was doing a bit of guiding so we lowered into a crevasse for his first ice climb and photography.
Not a bad place to learn!
There were others out as well.
These guys were looking over the edge of the highest point we could see. I couldn't pass up the opportunity and tried my best to talk them into climbing the steep face for our photographing enjoyment.
Success!
That looks steep.
Lots of shapes.
And lots of climbers.
And absolutely beautiful days.
The photos were snapped by the hundreds as the light played into our dreams.
This is unedited...we couldn't have asked for better light!
Oh the black and whites!
Not sure i'd climb that if I were you...
Seriously.
After two days of climbing and pictures we finally made our way back down for the last rays of light.
Thanks for looking!

David_S85 - I was really happy with that one too. It was right then I knew I wanted to talk them into climbing it!
FlyNavy - Ya know I just got this camera and I'm super excited about using it! If I had a smaller camera that was the same quality and usability I suppose that would be cool but I hadn't even thought about it. Also carrying around the bigger camera makes me look more professional...heh

Some of the black and whites truly look like they are out of this world.
Thanks for posting these.
