BayPhoto Framed -> Acyllic -> Look good?

I haven't ordered any of Bay Photo's framed prints yet. They do not use glass, but a thin acrylic. Their site says it looks just like glass, but I'm not sure I should believe that.

Can anyone provide any feedback on how they look?

This is an excellent question! Typically museum quality prints (and those found in many photography galleries) use Acrylic instead of glass. This is due to the ability to have higher quality optical properties, lack of color tints, better reflectivity (or anti-reflectivity), etc. I found a pretty good article on the differences here: http://www.framedestination.com/acrylic_selection.html.

The one thing you'll want to be aware of is the quality of the acrylic. A low quality acrylic can leave reflections, diminish the quality of the print, or have tints as well. Rest assured though, Bay Photo uses a quality acrylic on their framed prints!

Thanks for the input. I read acryllic, and even though knowing the typical fine quality of Bayphoto Labs, invisioned wavy, shiny plastic over a nice picture. Of course, I knew it would be better, but was still concerned enough to ask someone.

I had expected they would offer Museum Glass, albeit expensive. No glass offered at all was a surprise.
