A few dorky self portraits

It's been at least 10 years since I've had hair... well, at least hair long enough that needs to be combed. I've buzzed my head every 2 weeks for the past decade. For some unknown reason, I decided to grow my hair out. I'm about to turn 44 in 2 months so maybe it's the start of a midlife crisis. Who knows but I already came close to cutting it when I realize I... a) didn't own a comb, b) I found that there are over 100 different types of hair gel. :rofl

That all said, my wife wanted a new photo of me with hair so I decided to shoot a few selfies tonight while she was crashed out on the couch. I tried a few different poses and these were the ones where I don't look like a complete dork. Maybe just half dork. :dunno

1 - She'll probably like this one because I never, ever smile in photos

3 - This is pretty much the same shot as the one above but is in focus. I think I like the other one better but the eyes are just a tad soft.

Smiling! Smiling! Seriosuly, that one is a million times stronger imo. My only nit there is too much distracting background, bit you can solve that with a crop.....

The other two: do an eyeswap if it bothers you?

Also, get that cam left shoulder down - more space between ear and shoulder....... The lifted shoulder is contributing to what you think is "dorky", I suspect......

    Alex,

    I can't believe I am going to say this.....................for God's sake don't tell anyone!

Keep the hair. With your looks and physique you could be a male model, or eye candy for a woman's calendar. (I think this is accurate..............but I could be wrong......I'm a guy. :D)

You should seriously consider doing some nice portraits, life style shots with interesting, non-distracting backgrounds.

Hey Sam... first, thanks for the compliment. Second, nothing wrong with complimenting a guy. I'm as straight a guy as you can find and have no shame in pointing out when a guy is good-looking. I think it says a lot about a guy's confidence when they can do so. That said, I think I'd starve as a model. Laughing.gif

you're one of those people who looks much better smiling rather than doing that smirk thing that you do in the most recent one.
    I like the light, though

wow..the hair is really throwing me for loop as I have only known you sans hair! It looks good through. Love the little rim light and I agree..the smile works better than the smirk.
