Chromecast for SM Mobile - how's the progress going?

Chromecast is so very easy to use, it can quickly turn any HDMI compatible TV into a great display for your photos accessed through the nice SmugMug mobile app - IF the "cast" feature were enabled in the app.

How's this coming? It isn't hard. This would make it so easy to just use your mobile device to very simply show your images on the big screen. This should really be a priority for SmugMug. Chromecast isn't new anymore.

I agree this would be a nice feature to have. A 3rd party developer made one for the Roku which I've used in the past. At this time we're currently not working on it but we'd love to integrate more with many other 3rd party applications.

You can vote for this feature on our Feature Requests page here: http://feedback.smugmug.com/forums/17723-smugmug/suggestions/4372175-add-chromecast-support-on-your-mobile-app

Update: I take that back. We support casting to Chromecast on both Android and in iOS.

In iOS it's built into the sharing button. I had to click "More..." to enable "Cast".

Update #2: It looks like the only reason it worked on my iOS device was because I had an app called "PhotoCast" already installed. Native Chromecast support is not built into the SmugMug iOS app.

Casting to a TV is supported as follows:
    - iOS: Not natively through the SmugMug iOS app. Chromecast apps with export extensions like "PhotoCast" can be used in conjuncture with the SmugMug app to "Export to Cast" for display on your Chromecast device.
    - Android: Chromecast support is built into the Android SmugMug App.
    - Amazon KindleTV / KindleTV Stick: The SmugMug app can be downloaded to your device.

I use both an Android Galaxy S5 and a Nexus 7 tablet. SmugMug app is installed on both. I don't see the "cast" button on either app.

Chromecast support was added in version 3.1.12 of the SmugMug app on Android. You can go to Settings (on your device)->Apps->SmugMug to see the version number in the app info page. You will also need to be on the same wifi network as the Chromecast is. When in a gallery or on an image lightbox the cast icon shows up automatically in the app action bar

Do you know which version of the App you have installed?

I haven't tried slideshow, but the Chromecast "cast" button now appears, and I can view the image on the tv. I must have had an older version of the app.
