Light is perfect! The wooden structure......what is it? Messing up the symmetry.
It's actually iron and I'm pretty sure it supports the whole stairway. In person, it's not unattractive. Perhaps I could have found a better shooting angle--I suppose I was only thinking about the spiral aspect.
