Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Washington DC

I stopped in Washington this weekend on the way home from New York - DC at night is one of my favorite subjects!

I almost always find my way to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial near the Lincoln Memorial. While my Air Force service was a decade after that war ended, I have many friends who did serve there, and know a few who never returned. More by chance than anything else, I was at the dedication ceremony for the Memorial in 1982, having taken a trip to DC with some college friends over Veterans Day weekend, and deciding to attend the dedication.

1 - The east side of the Wall with the Washington Monument, this was a 6-shot HDR.



2 - A section of the wall.



3 - The Three Soldiers statue, added to the memorial two years after the Wall was dedicated.



4 - A section of the Vietnam Women's Memorial, a short distance from the main memorial.

My father and brother-in-law served in Vietnam, as did several friends. It means a lot to me. I have see it several times, but never at night. You have given me a whole new perspective on this amazing memorial. The first shot is simply stunning! Would love to have one on my wall. Hope you print it large for yourself. Absolutel superb shot!
