Dear all,
I have created an unlisted gallery as I wanted to have a way to share photos with friends. The other day I wanted to share one specific shot... and I went to the gallery and clicked on the shot. I Got the link and shared it with friends.. Then I found that they had access to the whole gallery and not the single shot

1. What I did wrong here?
2. Can I know change the link of that gallery (currently I turned the gallery to private) so they do not have access anymore if I turn it back to unlisted?

Regards
Alex

    Hi Alex,

By design, if you link to a gallery or a specific photo in it, the person that has the link can view all photos in the gallery. If you don't want that, it would be best to move the photo in question to a different gallery that you don't mind getting shared. You could also specifically create a gallery for that photo.
Instead of moving a photo, you could also use the collect photos feature as long as the original gallery the photo is in, is not set to "private".

There is also an option to just share the direct link to a photo, however that only allows the person you send the link to to view the photo in one size only. Direct photo links are therefore rather intended for embedding photos on forums / blogs. You can get a direct photo link via the share button > get a link > direct photo links tab. The only exception to that is the buy link, which also allows access to the gallery.

To change the link for a gallery, you can simply change the custom url in the gallery settings > essentials section. However, the gallery key (the portion after the custom url of the gallery starting with "n-") would remain the same. So theoretically, a person that has the old link could try to modify their existing link to try to find out the new custom url you've set up.
If you're worried about that, just create a new gallery and move all the photos over to the new gallery and delete the old gallery.

If you pulled the link from the URL or from the embeddable links, the link for the photo includes the link to the unlisted gallery.
If you pull the link from the Photo Links tab and the gallery is unlisted the URL does not contain the folder and gallery information. This is the link you want to use if you only want to share a photo.

I just did a Share... Get a Link on a photo in an unlisted gallery. The form of the URL that was presented if I pulled the link from the Photo Links tab does not include enough information to get back to the gallery. Where did you pull the link from?

Here's an example of Share... Get a Link... Photo Links tab:
