How sync photos and intermediate folders?

I am a long standing photographer that is brand new to Smugmug and I have a question. I would like to upload my collection of photos to Smugmug while keeping the folder structure I have in place. Is there an easy way to do that?
I have 27,000 photos across 500+ folders many of which are deeply nested. The idea of uploading one gallery at a time is a non-starter. However, none of the uploader/sync tools I tried (Giraffe, BackPicMan, Smugup) will create the intermediate folders.
One of the cool features of Snugmug that attracted me was their use of nested folders to hold galleries. Seems like a perfect paradigm for syncing with a file system...right?

A couple good ones are send to SmugMug. Also mover.io has SmugMug integration.

Send-to-Smugmug looks nice, but the thought of manually creating and sending 1000+ galleries is something I'm trying to avoid. I'm looking for something that can sync between my local file system (replicated already to Dropbox) and Smugmug.
I wrote to the author of SmugUp yesterday after posting here, and he informed me that the APIs necessary to create folders on SmugUp only became available last week. In the meantime, I've found a program that does precisely what I want to do with Zenfolio:

So unless I find another solution, I may switch to Zenfolio. They are similarly priced...
Mover.io is another fail with regard to Smugmug. Like the others, they flatten the folder hierarchy by creating names that have all the parent folder name concatenated together. See here:

So hamfisted an approach, it boggles the mind, but in the end, my understanding from others is that it is Smugmug's delay in releasing the APIs, not the sync utility authors...
