I haven't posted in ages but after reading the great Pull Back sticky thread I started again. This is my youngest son Joe who was willing to sit still for 5 minutes!


One Soft Box right in front of him with me under it, Reflector on the ground in front of him. Gelled Canon flash aimed at the background.

Great lighting and I really like the background. My favorite is always the soft box, it gives a great soft white light. Although I do wish a little more contrast between the t-shirt and background.

how big is your soft box and how far was it away? Judging from catch lights either it was a small soft box or it was pretty far away. In either case the light is not objectionable but the light is "just there". There is little directionality and is bit flat. If you are going for soft directional light then the the softbox has to be big and close and more from the side,

Thanks for the comments folks. The softbox is a 24x36 and it was approximately 4-5 feet away. Will have to work on making it pop more.

Put that box 18 inches from subject and more from the side
