Upload Progress Bar

Lately when I upload a file the progress bar goes to full in a few seconds even though it might take minutes or even hours to upload a video for instance.
There is no way to judge how long the upload will take.

Cheers,

I tried uploading a video and the progress bar properly moved as the video uploaded. I let it go for a few minutes and it inched along as we would expect. Could you send me a link to the gallery where you had problems? Are you still having the issue? If so, could you send along your operating system and browser information so I can try to reproduce it?

I have been experiencing this since I got a new computer.
It uses Windows 8.1 Pro 64 and has a 7i six core processor and 32 gigs of ram with an X99 motherboard and solid state drives and a Quadro K2000 video card.
In other words it is Very Fast!

I use Firefox for a browser.

The problem is most noticeable when I upload a video.
The progress bar fills in in just a few seconds even though it may take an hour for the file to actually upload.

    Dennis,

I've noted something similar using the Lightroom plugin. I too bought a new, faster, computer this summer. (Intel i7 but a measly four core.) Videos are not really my thing, but I uploaded a few associated with the Holiday season last week. My guess is that the bar is actually measuring the rendering into compressed H.264 format -- now way faster than the last time I did a video -- not the actual upload. Does that seem consistent with what you are seeing when uploading directly?

I would expect that the rendering would be done after the file is uploaded.
Even if it was done before uploading it would take more then a couple seconds to render.
Perhaps the uploader puts the file into a ram buffer and considers it uploaded at that point.
    I don't know.

My upload speed hasn't changed and that is the weak link.

    Dennis,
Can you throw the original file on dropbox or Google Drive so that we can download it and see if we can repeat the issue? I've uploaded a few .mov files with no problems regarding the progress bar but I'd love to see if we could repeat the issue!

Remember, this happens in any gallery, with any type of file, including a regular jpg file.

Hmmm.... I let this run for a few minutes and the progress bar inched along. I hate to keep bothering you for more details but could you let me know which operating system and browser you are using? I'm trying to mimic your setup to see if I can re-create the problem. Do you have any extensions installed on your browser?

Windows 8.1 Pro 64 and Firefox. I tried Internet Explorer and got the same results.

Extensions used are Adblock Plus, Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF, Logitech SetPoint.

    Plugins are ...

Well if it's both IE and Firefox then it's clearly not the Firefox extensions :( Let me pass this along and see if I can get someone to look further.

This problem still exists and happens on both my main computer and my laptop.
When loading large video files it is impossible to get a time frame of when it will be finished.

    Cheers,

After living with this problem for the last three months, it suddenly started working correctly today!
