Maine Sunset in October

From this past October. This shot was taken from Lookout Point near Harpswell, Maine. This part of Harpswell Neck overlooks Casco Bay. It was such a beautiful sunset--I took several shots and might post some of them later. I wanted to see what y'all thought of this one. It is a 3-exposure HDR image done in Photomatix Pro and PS. I have lightened it some but this was the scene I saw and don't want to make it too bright. But is it too dark?

That's a beautiful scene, Lauren, and wonderfully captured. Sunset shots can often result in a somewhat muted or darkened terrain. Too many shooters often try and brighten the terrain and, as a result, end up with an unnatural production. Considering your situation, with fading light and heavy clouds, the terrain was naturally bathed in muted light and should be left that way.
