Rebranding?

Hi,

I'm in the process of changing my domain name (probably) and am worried about any links, etc. to my site not working if I was to do so. I know that the domainname.smugmug.com can be changed but was wondering about the whole redirect from customdomainname.com to customdomainname2.com can be done? Has anyone done this before? Is this done from within smugmug somehow or via the hosting company? In my case I'm hosted with Godaddy (via Smugmug). Does anyone know the rough procedure for doing this?

Redirect would be done from the hosting company.

Your primary domain must be setup as noted in the smugmug help on this page - http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/93340-how-do-i-use-my-custom-domain-.

You can forward your second domain to the primary domain. I have www.denisegoldberg.com set up with a CNAME pointing to domains.smugmug.com. I have www.denisegoldbergphotography.com forwarded to denisegoldberg.com. Keep in mind that once your viewer is on your site the domain name they will see is the one that is properly set up at smugmug.

For example, if you type www.denisegoldbergphotography.com/kaleidoscope you will be taken to the page at http://www.denisegoldberg.com/Kaleidoscope.

I can't help you with the process at GoDaddy as that's not who I use.

Thanks Denise, think I have it worked out now, the other domain is currently redirecting to my current one and should be able to switch things over easy enough when I want!
