Using "Get a Link" when using iOS 8

This is probably a problem with iOS 8 but I'll ask about it here anyway in case someone has figured out a workaround.

I'll frequently take photos with my iPhone and immediately upload them to my SmugMug site using Camera Awesome. Then it's also very common that I'll want to get a direct link to the photo only so that I can embed the photo in a discussion forum message (so the photo appears inline in the forum discussion).

Before iOS 8, I would do this on my iPhone in Safari by going up to the "Owner Share" option and then select the "Get A Link" option. Under iOS SmugMugs "Copy" link button for each photo size has never worked. But prior to iOS 8, what I COULD do was select all of the text of the URL link to the image, and then use iOS's copy feature to copy the URL. Then I could paste the URL into a forum message.

Unfortunately, starting with iOS 8, iOS's copy feature does not work on the SmugMug Direct Photo Links page. If I attempt to highlight all of the URL (iOS's "select all" copy feature), it simply doesn't work. And if I try to drag-copy to highlight all of the URL, that doesn't work either. (Again, it all worked fine under iOS 7 and earlier).

Has ANYONE found a work around for this on the iPhone or iPad running iOS 8?

I don't want to link my SmugMug page (copying that URL is easy). What I want to do is use iOS 8 to obtain the DIRECT link to a specific photo so that URL can be pasted in a forum message and then appear inline in the forum discussion.

Any and all advice is very much appreciated?!

Thanks!

Mark

    Hi Mark,

Unfortunately there is not a way to get a direct link to the photo itself on iOS 8. Our engineers are working on a solution.

If you would have any further questions, please let us know!

    Take care,

    Hi Mark,
I realize my post isn't going to be a solution but have you tried the New "SmugMug" iOS app? It will let you upload to your SmugMug account without having to use Camera Awesome (although you can still use Camera Awesome).

The way I do it, is to upload using SmugMug app, then browse to my site in Safari, and copy the URL. I realize that doesn't help for embedding images into a post but at least it gives a URL to the image :/
