Tamron 24-70 lens hood

Does anyone know of a 'longer' lens hood that will fit the Tamron 24-70 without vignetting? The issue is that if you compare it to the nikon one for example, there is much less coverage particularly on the sides. I tend to use it a lot in slightly questionable weather (or would like to more at least) but the lens is currently quite susceptible to raindrops. A lens hood that is longer would seem to solve this problem (or at least reduce it)!
The slight issue comes with the fact that the Tamron is a 82mm filter thread which I guess limits choices to some extent! I don't care too much if the other hood is more bulky, which it would have to be I guess!

You would keep it somewhat extended for the longer focal lengths and roll it back for wide angles. Do test beforehand to see when vignetting occurs at each folded length.

Generic plastic lens hoods are generally of pretty poor quality. For a generic metal WA 82mm lens hood maybe:

A folding rubber hood does provide some physical protection against moderate bumps and such, but to get another hard plastic hood which is both durable and custom designed to extend further (ostensibly to provide the rain protection you desire) is going to be very large and expensive.
If you want to design your own lens hoods, you might try to pattern after something you design here:

Either paper print and adapt something they have already designed, further customizing it to your needs, or directly contact the owner of that site to see if they might be able to help.

I think if I did create one in paper/card that was the right size though, obviously it wouldn't be great in wet weather and I think having a plastic version of that made might be prohibitively expensive! Something interesting to check out though, thanks!
