Lightbox expand / close buttons

eeeek!!! I have been pulling my hair out for days tring to fix this bit of ugliness.


These are the expand/close buttons from my lightbox. I can't figure out how to get the background to be black on this little corner. I have tried countless variations on .sm-lightbox .sm-button .sm-lightbox-tools and nothing seems to work. I got the nav arrows and the info bar at the bottom to display as I want but these two buttons elude me. Please help!!!

I you check out the lightbox on any picture, you'll see what I mean.
