SEO settings question

If I delete all the info on my 'profile' settings (My Name and Site Name), will Google then pick up the info in my SEO settings (Account Settings > Discovery > Homepage Meta Description)?

Right now, I think it's picking up the name I put in the Profile section because I thought I needed to keep something there. And it's also picking up the first bit of text on my homepage (a text content block). I would prefer that it use the info in my SEO settings, homepage meta for the description but somehow use my 'name' I've assigned on the Profile settings. Just trying to figure out how this works and what sections take priority so I can fill in the right info to get the title and description I'd prefer on google searches.

Thanks

It should already be showing the contents of homepage meta description if you are on your home page.

I just checked my site (for a sanity check of this) - and I do have entries in the profile settings.
    • If I do a view source of my home page I see the SEO Settings for my site. Meta description & meta keywords are shown.
    • If I do a view source of another page on my site, the text from that page is shown.
    • If I do a view source of a gallery on my site, the description from the gallery is shown.
This is the behavior that I expected.

If you have text on your home page then I would expect that to be used, not sure if it would be used instead of or in addition to the description in the homepage meta description. Hopefully someone from SmugMug can let you know what is expected in your case.
