    not really...
    IMHO, in spite of being shot on 1/1, there is nothing inherent to the pic that suggests new - not even snow. Now the globe falling in Time Square might be another matter.

    Nice photo! The wispy clouds almost look as though they are rays of a sun below the horizon--they drew me into the center of the photo at least. I'm not sure that it will be distinguishing enough to work for the "new" challenge. To difficult to determine if it's sunrise, sunset, or what exactly is "new" ne_nau.gif.

    Thanks for the comments everyone. I figured it was a bit of a stretch for the challenge...doesn't work out unless you have the context and a photo really should stand on its own!
