Advice needed: add a "photostream" to a web site?

I would like to add/embed a "photostream" (the photos in a gallery in reverse time order) to a page on my blog. I've played with the HTML5 slideshow (I don't want to use flash) and it's very nice but I miss the ability have some thumbnails for navigation.
I doesn't have to be a slideshow, it's enough for me to display a number of thumbnails that the viewer can click on to show a larger version.
Is there some other way of doing this than the HTML5 slideshow? (I'm using WordPress)

If so, you can use the RSS feed of a gallery to display it on Wordpress: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/93263-what-do-feeds-do-
Something like this seems like it could work: https://wordpress.org/plugins/rss-image-widget/
