Adding areas for people to advertise on my site?

I'm looking for ways to maximize on how much traffic my web site gets. Unless I'm interpreting something wrong it seems I'm averaging over a million page loads per month. I would like to add panels on my pages for people to use to advertize. I shoot many different sports tournaments and I see opportunity for additional revenues using advertising. I'm just not sure how to maximize on this. Any suggestions?

There is a Google AdSense content block you can use.

If you're thinking about rolling your own, I suppose you could put an add in an HTML content block. Problem is, that wouldn't give your advertisers the ability to track the clicks on their ads from your sites. I suspect in today's world they will expect some kind of stats to be available.

Thank you Denise, I applied to Adsense and was rejected on the grounds that there is not enough text on my site for google to automate the ad process.

I haven't seen your site but... would it be worth adding some text in the form of gallery / folder / page descriptions and possibly titles or captions on photos and then re-apply to Adsense?

It may be worth it, I'm just not sure how I would do it. My web site is ZRPhoto.net if you would like to look. Most my visitors are checking out the "Tournament" galleries. Does adsense pick up on metadata? I can add metadata to my gallery descriptions.

Honestly I'm not sure how much traffic you need to have to your site to have the ads generate enough money to make it worth adding them.

In addition to that, clicking on an ad would take the viewer away from your site. Will they return?
