Agree that this is a nice example where subjects are aware of you, yet they neither pose nor seem to mind that you are taking the picture. I am curious if this is just one of several such shots-and therefore the subjects began to relax.

This shot is purely a candid grab mayfly... the young people were part of a larger group attending an outdoor celebration of some kind
and were actually a fair distance away (200mm @ f8), on the other side of a large fountain.
This was the last of 2 or 3 clicks and captured the best moment...
and, it does seem that a couple of them had become aware of me - the threat to lower the zipper cracks-me-up. :giggle
Credit clarity to the great performance of the Canon 70-200mm f4L IS USM.

Nice Eric. I really like the shot ... but I find it very interesting is that it has this odd 2D-cardboard cutout/3D look.
Thank-you Gary - glad to catch your eye with this one!
I hadn't thought about it in that way until you mentioned it, and you're spot-on in your observation...
I think the effect is due to DOF and telephoto compression from the 200mm @ f8, and I purposely processed
each color channel to create significant tonal separation between the subjects and the fore and backgrounds.
