Loggerhead Shrike
Happy New Year all!
I hope you are all having better weather than we are up here. Rain, rain, rain and now snow. Oh yeah - lots of clouds and very little sun
Was able to get out and capture this guy late last week. Lightings a bit harsh and I wish it was a natural perch. Interesting looking birds though. They look like a generic perching bird from a distance, but looking at the beak you can see that they are a predatory species. For more info on the species look here- http://www.birds.cornell.edu/programs/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Loggerhead_Shrike.html

Sorry Jeff I dont know about the age. They aren't very common around here either. First one I've ever seen. He could have been 7in in length.
