upper case URLs

It appears all Smugmug pages must have first letter as upper case, including each folder. Is there a way around that? I get frustration from users with direct links, when they tell someone the link they often go back to lower case because normally URLs are not case sensitive. Any way around this?

I believe if you type the url with a lower case it will automatically get changed to upper case.
Say on my site if I type http://www.edinburghphotography.com/edinburgh it gets redirected to http://www.edinburghphotography.com/Edinburgh.

Are there any pages in particular where this is not working for you?

After a surprise on webtools this evening and a short check: I am sorry to say Tom, your re-routing does not always work. Probably not the smartest idea of mine, but I have my FAQ stuff under www.lilleulven.com/HELP entered this way you'll exactly get where I want you to, entered as www.lilleulven.com/help it will get you to the smugmug help pages instead...
So I have a feeling that there is no way around this, CarSalesman - at least not for pages that might have an equivalent smugmug-address like "help" / "info" and what ever you might come up with. Yet when you have pages that do not have that equivalent on smugmug directly (see lilleulven.com/macro perfect re-routing to lilleulven.com/Macro) then the re-routing will work just fine.
Maybe something to do with the site behind... I mean the webspace would really be in my case on lilleulven.smugmug.com but since I have my own domain I have rerouted it kind of to be able to use lilleulven.com... so I suspect that you might have had these links on <username>.smugmug.com already and the only way to make sure that your site works is if the rule of user-pages always being written as initcaps (first letter uppercase) and internal-smugmug-pages always being written as lowercase makes some sense at last...

Which starts me wondering if I should do something about it at least for my Help-page... calling it s-happens instead in the link or so :D

    Best of luck

Thanks for the pointers. I found my problem. In the ones I was testing, there were upper case letters in the page names other than the first letter. If you create a page domain.com/Test it will come up with any capitalization. If you create a page domain.com/TesT, it will not. My fault as usual.

Thank you for your clarification as well, CarSalesman that certainly means that I will have to change a couple of links of mine. I would have thought that this would not have made any difference as I assumed the whole term would have been converted to either uppercase or lowercase or initcap... but I would not have thought that it would not work if the uppercase letter was somewhere in between.

So I guess that means the following things will fail than:
    1) having a camel-case word with an uppercase letter somewhere after position 1. => 404 error in case that letter is not written in uppercase
    2) having a lower-case word that is actually used as a direct smugmug link as well (help, faq, support, contact might be examples of that) => links to smugmug-page rather than your own
    3) if you have a link created out of two words - say New Zealand written in one word with only the first letter as a capital letter in the link (Newzealand). Your user is typing "NewZealand" instead => 404 (now I want a re-direction instead of a 404!)

    It will not fail when:
    1) you provide the link in the first position written as a lowercase even though it is an uppercase in your link and all other uppercase letters are correct => converts the first letter into uppercase

I guess it would be nice - if that hasn't happened in some manual that I did not read - if this information is passed on to those who in the future join smugmug and create their first pages. (Or those of us who sometimes forget things and might want to look this up at the "offical" smugmug help pages)

Guess I have got some work to do now...

    ... camel-case...

Thanks, didn't even know camel-case was a thing!

I have a slight issue with this actually on my page as I have a /Popular page that obviously doesn't get along well with the /popular Smugmug one. It would be useful in a way if there was an option on the Account Settings that enabled these pages to be individually disabled if not required.
