Thanks JR. I actually tried a close crop on him but wasn't happy with the result. Perhaps if I had set it up differently with no background interference, it might have worked. A little better lighting and I would've gone BW on him too. There's always "next" time.

I'm certain you could do a great conversion. I actually didn't dislike my conversion (technique) I just think the photo (as is) is warmer and better in color.
Stylistically, I think if I had captured him in a more stoic setting I might like BW. He does have a great face, huh?
